Meet Frankie
A beautiful Orange and White Fluffy cat name Frankie came to us 3 years ago. We had lost our lovely Tucker way too soon and that left us with his brother big fluffy Pete. Pete needed a friend for sure. He was very close to his brother. It is always tough to have brothers and lose one of them, makes it hard for the other one to recover. So even though he was around 7 years old we thought a kitten might be just the thing to cheer him up.
So a neighbor told us about Frankie. This cute little orange and white kitty with lots of energy. He loved playing with the Feather Crinkle Teaser Wand, didn't care what color. Of course the Fur Mouse Cat Toy was a big hit but he mostly wanted to know what was outside the door we kept closing when we left the room.
Keeping Frankie and Pete separated as you do with a newbie lasted maybe 2 weeks. Frankie couldn't wait to see more of the house and to meet Pete. After it seems minutes these two were best buds and inseparable. Here we have a big Fluffy cat and a small not yet fluffy kitten getting to know each other. One fun game they loved to play is wrestling. With Pete being full of layers upon layers of fur, having a kitten with kitten claws attacking was nothing. Barely felt it. What was fun was watching Pete retaliate and you had this big and small cluster of fur rolling around on the ground. Barely could see Frankie until he made Pete chase him. Other great cute moments were when we would find them sleeping together. Whether it was in front of the fire place or curled up in a chair, Frankie was always finding his big full of fur friend to stay warm with. We discovered as Frankie grew he was a little on the skittish side. He didn't like noises such as doorbells, vacuums, anything loud. But with big brother Pete by his side, Frankie felt some comfort. It was nice to see these two mismatched kitties find each other and enjoy life. Perfect match that didn't last long. Sadly this love affair only lasted a year. Pete unexpectedly passed and left both us and Frankie with a great loss.
Usually cats will grieve and in our having a lot of cats experience, the grieving last about 2 weeks. But Frankie was not jumping back from his loss. He had grown into this beautiful almost regal looking Orange with white cat but became very lethargic, sad, not much energy. He missed his Pete and so did we!
So we thought we needed to see if getting a friend or two would help. We had an opportunity to rescue two orange cuties and so Chester and Cooper were introduced to the household. At first, Frankie would not have anything to do with them. Hissing was involved, leaving the room when they showed up. At least he was showing some other emotion besides sad! This went on for a awhile but eventually Frankie became more playful, starting watching them play and has become more content in life. He has to let the brothers know that he is in charge and he reminds us as well. All of us do not mind if he wants to be in charge if it makes him happy. He would never admit it but we think he likes that he has a couple companions to look after.
